DERT is a social enterprise that activates books into fundraising tools that raise money for literacy programs. It was founded by two brothers: an Olympia book curator, Ernesto Chavez, and a Brooklyn graphic designer, Marcos Chavez. DERT believes that books, like food, music or art, should be curated in thoughtful selections that connect readers with values and ideas that will improve and bring meaning to their daily lives. Parsons students and DERT collaborate to create books for early learning.

This children’s book is a simplified and modernized version of the Greek Mythology story of Echo and Narcissus. After Narci doesn’t want to be friends with Echo via text, she accepts her rejection and decides to try activities that promote self-care. In the process, she became less obsessed with social media and found happiness and real friends.
