Celiac Disease Overview
Celiac Disease is a hereditary (comes from family genetics) autoimmune disease that doesn’t allow people to digest gluten, which can also cause people to be lactose intolerant. It can damage the small intestine and other serious conditions if left undiagnosed. About one percent of the world population are affected.
Problem
Lack of restaurants providing gluten-free options. Gluten-free restaurant finding apps have limited restaurant recommendations and asking for paid subscriptions.
Possible Solution
Bring people with celiac or those interested in a gluten-free lifestyle together. Educate and promote to restaurant owners and bring them into the community to increase gluten-free restaurant options.
Design Concept
I want to develop a digital platform to bring awareness of celiac problems to restaurant owners and create an online community for people with celiac or interested in making allergen-friendly food together. Restaurants can be informed and create gluten-free options on their menus. Celiacs benefit from an increase of restaurants to dine in. Both groups can explore new recipes and build a strong food-related community.

Initial Sketches At first I thought a website would be a good choice to bring celiac awareness and create a community, but I realized an app is a better way to reach out to people than a website. It would be more social since there will be chat rooms and messaging options.
