Problem

While my parents tested out my prototype for a new app, I realized how older generations have a harder time using technologies despite how simple the navigation. So I would like to learn how to help those who have trouble understanding how to navigate digital platforms.

Research Conclusion

Older adults or seniors using technology has increased over the years, but they are also associated with their financial and educational background. Being in isolation also promotes the increase of technology use among the seniors.

Current Solutions

- Technology Support Classes (may also require a fee)

- Online Walkthrough (requires you to be on the website before learning how to use the device to go on the website)

- Books (that can cost around $20)

Design Concept

I want to create a guide book that examines similar iconography on digital platforms to express the same function to those (particularly seniors) who have difficulties grasping the use of technologies and adapt to learn how to use them. The guide would be made accessible to all by using legible typefaces and cost efficient paper.

Programs and Tools

Illustrator, InDesign, Button Maker

Postcard Idea

An extra activity is a piece of postcard that has a space for people to write a review and draw out a nice home page for a phone that they think would be easy to navigate. Then they can mail the postcard to the creator’s/my PO box.
